If you are not one of those lucky people, just go through the following steps to be able to place your i Phone or i Pod touch into recovery mode.As stated above the warning message if the device is already in recovery mode, you can jump directly to step 6. Disconnect the USB from your device, and leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer. Turn off the device: Press and hold Sleep/Wake a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. With the device turned off press and hold the Home button and reconnect the USB cable to your i Phone / i Pod touch. You should now see the "recovery mode" alert pictured in the image at the left of this text. All you have to do now is to use i Tunes to restore your device (a detailed tutorial on how to do that is available HERE).Of course, if your desire is for those fun little apps you wish to install, all you must do is head to the "Apps" tab and check out the emulators. We'd like to take a moment to appreciate your continued support over the last year - we have had a marvelous one, and we can only wish you did too. Some users who restore the effected i Phone or i Pad through i Tunes discover the device is being downgraded to i OS 9.3.5, rather than updating to i OS 10.If this happens, it may be a good idea to stay on i OS 9.3.5 for a while until the trouble with the i OS 10 update is resolved, or use i Tunes to install the i OS 10 update instead of the on-device OTA mechanism. We've set up i Emulators 2.0 to act as an informative hub for your emulation needs.
I have done just about everything I can think of (which isn't much) short of pressing the restore button in itunes (without holding alt/option to select my IPSW) I would much prefer to save my original Baseband. Any help that would allow me to restore this phone with Redsnow or Pwnage tool would be greatly appreciated. You'll have to go into Pwned DFU with redsnow before attempting the restore, otherwise the baseband will be updated. i Tunes does it thing I am able to select my IPWS, the extracting software "bar" runs across top of i Tunes, then it does it's verify with Apple, and then it stops with Error 21. (My finger tips are about worn off by now....) please respond to me quickly, as I am about to do the DREADED factory restore......Essentially this means the i Phone or i Pad will be bricked and unusable until it can be restored or successfully updated with i Tunes and a computer.Update: Apple has apparently fixed the problem with the OTA update. If your i Phone or i Pod touch is already in recovery mode, you can go ahead and restore it using i Tunes. If i Tunes displayed an alert with an error code, go to THIS Apple Support article before going through the procedure presented here.
